BarMar : launch of the public consultation period, an important phase for the public

Recognized as a Project of Common Interest (PCI) by the European Commission, BarMar will simultaneously be subject to consultation under the PCI status and under the French Environmental Code. Thus, BarMar organize its consultation and participation process in Spain and France on behalf of the BarMar company. The BarMar company is a project company led by the French and Spanish network operators, Enagás, NaTran, Teréga. It is dedicated to the development and operation of the BarMar pipeline.

In France

The Barmar company, with the support of the French operators NaTran and Teréga, leads the preliminary consultation under the aegis of the CNDP (National Commission for Public Debate). The CNDP officially validated the BarMar project consultation schedule on April 1, 2026. This procedure enables the public to be informed about a major project and to express themselves on the project. Three neutral and independent guarantors, designated by the CNDP, will ensure the sincerity of exchanges and the quality of information throughout the process.

The consultation opened on May 6 with a press conference followed by a launch meeting in Gruissan (11) and will conclude on July 12 in Fos-sur-Mer (13). A wide range of meetings and participatory formats are distributed between Fos-sur-Mer and Port-Vendres (66), along the entire coastline of the Gulf of Lion. Find the full program of meetings, practical information, documents, and registration links on www.registre-numerique.fr/barmar.

In Spain:

The operator Enagás has developed a Plan for Public Participation (PCPP) to explain the main characteristics of the project to all interested and involved stakeholders. Enagás, as the promoter of this infrastructure on Spanish territory, is responsible for conducting this process with the aim of providing transparent information, identifying and mitigating possible impacts, and involving communities.

The implementation of the PCPP in Spain is scheduled between May 8 and July 2, 2026.
